Oakamoor Sand Sidings - October 2011

I think every man and his dog have visited this site over the years. I've visited on countless occasions since this report.

The sidings were originally built for use by the sand quarry, which is just up the hill from the track. This continued until 1988 when the last trains ran before the preservation society bought the line, earlier passenger services ceased in 1965. The actual Oakamoor station is further down the line past the tunnel, however only the platforms remain.
